These are some frequently asked questions from customers that
may be able to better inform you about a problem you may be
experiencing. Having information concerning vehicle issues means
less stress and more understanding for you.
My check engine light is on. What does that mean?
When a vehicle's check engine light (a.k.a. Service
Indicator Lamp, or Malfunction Indicator Light) is on, there is
a problem with the vehicle's emissions systems. This could be
bad oxygen sensors, a misfire (or "skip") in the spark plugs, or other
issues related to the emissions systems.
When my check engine light is on, will my car pass
inspection?
If your vehicle is a 1996 or newer, then it will not pass Rhode Island
Emissions testing if the check engine light is on. Service will have to
be performed on the vehicle in order for the check engine light to
shut off. Narragansett Auto Repair is a State Certified Inspection
Repair Facility, and can diagnose and repair your vehicle to Rhode
Island standards.
If your vehicle is a 1995 or older, then the check engine light is not as big an issue. Many times,
vehicles with check engines lights on that are 1995 or older will pass State Emissions Testing.
Can I recieve a risk free quote for repairs?
Yes, you certainly can. Estimating auto repair costs is free at Narragansett Auto Repair. We
have access to online resources to properly determine parts and labor costs, and give you as
accurate an estimate as we can. Most of the time, the estimate is exactly what you will pay, but
sometimes a repair takes a little longer than expected. Of course, Narragansett Auto Repair
will contact you as soon as possible to discuss the extra costs, if any.
Does Narragansett Auto Repair do any towing?
We certainly do. Jack's Towing is a subsidy of Narragansett Auto Repair. If your car is stuck,
broken, or simply needs to be transported, you can call us anytime for that service. We also

Where are you located?
Narragansett Auto Repair is conveniently located 5 minutes from Rt. 95, in West Warwick.
From 95 South: Take exit 12B, and bear left towards Rt. 113 (East Avenue). Follow East Avenue
across Rt. 2 (Bald Hill Rd.), over the small bridge to a light. Take a left onto Providence St. 500 ft on the left is Greenhill St. Bear left, and you will see our sign. (The sign is visible from Providence St.) We are located behind the Fish Bowl Pet Store.
From 95 North: Bear left onto 295 and take exit 1. Merge onto Rt. 113, and proceed to follow the instructions above.
